Wait, what?

I'm Jeff. I hail from the Sooner State and only occasionally miss the waving wheat. Right now, I'm living in Chicago and working as an in-house substitute teacher in one of the city's best schools. This is my face. I have a strange obsession with pens. I also love graphic tees a little too much. I will never be too old for Batman, zombies, or robots. I'm a sucker for a pretty smile, and a bat of the eyelashes will make me agree to just about anything. My friends are probably cooler than yours.

Attention all followers:

As some of you probably know (mostly because I won’t shut up about it), I’m a teacher at a charter school in Chicago’s west side. A great deal of our students have never left their neighborhood, much less the greater Chicago area. But every year, some of the more spectacular teachers here put together and run a program called Operation: Snowball, in which we take a group of our students out of the city and to a camp in Wisconsin. Snowball gives our students an opportunity to escape all of their daily struggles- school work, family problems, gangs, drugs, money issues, etc- and really just be kids for a weekend. I was lucky enough to be a small group leader last year, and I can really say that it was a phenomenal experience for everyone involved.

However, Snowball costs money; a good chunk of money, actually- to the tune of $14,000. Right now, we’re at $9,900. With the February deadline inching closer, we’re looking to get any and all help that people can give. While we are happy to distribute any monetary donations to where they are needed for our weekend, you could choose to sponsor one of the following:

  1. For one student to attend the weekend it is $125.  Feel free to sponsor one or more students!
  2. Our motivational speaker for Friday February 10 is $1500
  3. Our Bullying Prevention speaker on Friday Feb 10 is $600
  4. Our “dealing with teenage life” theatrical presentation is - $450
  5. Our chartered Coach Busses- $2100
  6. Stadium Butt Cushions (once bought, we can reuse time and time again!) - $1100
  7. Team-Building ‘Spider Web’ Low-Ropes Course:  $345

I know it’s probably a long shot, but if any of you wonderful followers of mine can give anything, we’d all really appreciate it. If you’d like to know more, feel free to message me personally, and I’ll fill you in on the finer details (like where to send those gigantic checks I’m sure you’re all writing right now).
